Annie has always enjoyed writing, particularly poetry.  One of her primary school teachers recognised her talent and encouraged her to develop it.  This encouragement kept Annie writing journals and poetry through her teenage years and into adulthood.  She used it to record experiences and ideas.  As she worked through Ministerial Training, she found that she was increasingly using it to wrestle with issues and ideas she encountered in lectures and in her church work.  She now consciously uses her writing to develop ideas and explore her Christian faith. She has had work published in a variety of journals and anthologies, including Lights from Within (Triumph, 1996); Rondeau Revolution (Triumph 1998); The Whole World Will Rejoice (ed G Duncan, Inspire, 2009).

Annie took up photography seriously in her early twenties when she discovered it gave her a different perspective on the world.  She found that she had an eye for the unusual and the quirky, and was able to focus on detail.  She enjoyed discovering new ways of manipulating light and shutter speed to portray unusual effects.  Although she was initially reluctant to change from film to a digital camera, she soon realized the potential of digital technology for enhancing both private and public worship.  She now uses her images regularly to engage congregations in reflection, to illustrate meditations and as aids to prayer.  Although she has used her images in worship and to create gifts for family and friends, she is only now starting to make them commercially available.

Although Annie enjoys taking photographs, she is rarely happy in front of the lens, and most portraits of her are obscured by the camera she insists on holding.
